Krisiun
Southern Storm
Century Media
Krisiun is one of those death metal bands that is active all the time, whether it be touring around the world or writing and recording a new album. “Southern Storm” is their 8th full-length studio album and they once again went to Germany to record with Andy Classen in the Stage One studio. The 3 brothers from the south of Brazil gained reputation as one of the fastest bands in the world and on this album they show they’re still fast, yet they seem to dose those hyperspeed parts a bit more and have some more variety within their songs that also contain some slower parts which leads to a more balanced album. The sound of the album is also pretty damn good and although you still have to dig Krisiun’s style this easily is their best album to date. The Sepultura cover of ‘Refuse/Resist’ is a standout track as it isn’t exactly a song you would think Krisiun would cover. I would have thought they’d choose an older Sepultura track. It’s cool to hear Krisiun’s rendition of this famous song. Other tracks I personally dig are ‘Minotaur’ and ‘Combustion Infernal’, but as a whole “Southern Storm” is a very strong album.
