The Waycross Doomsters have released a new record and compared to their previous work I hear some slight differences. First of all the songs are shorter and second the riffs are heavier. Yes, the music is still very heavy. The album opens with ‘Bride’, a very easy listening track with nice riffs and ditto vocals. The vocals are a bit lower then we know from them. It’s too simple to call them a classic doom band, because they do more. Of course you will hear the traditional doom riffs (Black Sabbath), but you will also hear stoner and even some Southern rock. The vocals do remind me of Ozzy in his early days, but who cares? The vocals are very honest and that’s the main thing. Other remarkable songs on the album are, besides ‘Bride’, ‘Raising Star’ (a very catchy song), ‘Love’, ‘Earthless’ and ‘Will You’. These last songs are cosmic inspired doom songs, featuring strong guitar leads. Yes, “Born Into Eternity” is their best record till date.
