Taak, which means "a heavy burden”, was formed in 2005 as a parallel band of Dawn Of Gehenna. The band has the same line-up as Dawn Of Gehenna and plays the same music, only the lyrics are in Estonian. The band calls their music ugri-doom and basically you could say that means doom metal heavily influenced by Black Sabbath with the addition of keyboards and organs. The band proves to be quite original keeping in mind where they draw their influences from. I would say the originality mainly comes from the fact that the lyrics are in Estonian. Vocalist Mart of this Tallinn based band has a great voice, sometimes a bit reminiscent of Albert Witchfinders style in Reverend Bizarre. Mart is also active in tons of other bands like Whispering Forest and the heavy metal band Herald. It seems like he’s one of the better singers in Estonia. So if you’re into old school doom with some nice touches, like the organs, you’re ready for a nice treat.
