“The Blue” is Novembre’s 7th album if we also count the re-recorded version of their 1994 debut “Wish I could dream it again”, that was released through Century Media in 2003, entitled “Dreams d’Azur”. Anyway “The Blue” is the second album they have done for Peaceville and as far as I’m concerned they really fit on that label as you will hear hints of both old Anathema and Paradise Lost as well as the newer sounds of bands like Opeth and Katatonia. Having said that you definitely mustn’t think Novembre is a second rate band trying to gain success with a sound invented by others. It’s actually the other way around. I think Novembre still hasn’t received the attention they deserve. Although you can hear the influences it’s more than clear they have created a sound of their own and I think they deserve much more credit for that. When you are familiar with the last album “Materia” I can tell “The Blue” is the logical next step and their emotionally laden songs are really worthwhile. Definitely a band to check out because they’re simply that good!
