Rape Pillage and Burn is a new band from Dallas, Texas where we can find a couple of known names in the line-up. Most known will be Richard ‘Daemon’ Cabeza. This Swede who moved to the USA was part of acts like Murder Squad, Dismember, Carbonized and Unanimated in the past. With the latter he recently recorded a new album after a long time by the way. In Dallas he found the perfect line–up with Divine Eve (who remembers the great ‘As The Angels Weep?’) drummer Matt Killen and guitarist Michael Slavin to fabricate a fine dose of old school death metal. ‘Songs Of Death...Songs Of Hell’ doesn’t sound typically American or Swedish, in fact it’s a prefect mix of both styles as they were played in the late 80’s, early 90’s. Too bad this EP is so short as this is great death metal fanatics of that old crude sound definitely have to check out. The old style of death metal is on the rise again and with releases like this one makes a fan like me only happy. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long before a full-length will be released.
