Hades from New Jersey started out as a power metal band in the early 80`s but they turned into a technical thrash act halfway during the 80`s. They debuted in 1987 with the full-length “Resisting Success” followed by “If At First You Don`t Succeed” in 1988. That album really put Hades on the map, at least over here in Europe as it contained some classic songs that are still very cool to listen to. During their first European tour in 1989 the band broke up, but in the meanwhile they have reformed several times and I think they have reformed once again to perform in Germany on Keep It True in 2010.
Anyway as the title suggests this isn`t a professional live recording. It`s not a bootleg either as it is an official release but the name comes from the fact that this clearly is single camera fan shot material. So, don`t expect anything fancy. If you are into Hades it is quite cool to see how they were on stage back in the day, especially seeing them play songs like `Opinionate!`, `The Leaders?` or `I Too Eye`. You get 7 live songs, as the band was one of the opening acts on the tour with Wargasm, Manowar and Nuclear Assault.
The bonus material on this DVD consists of an interesting documentary `Behind the Metal` which gives you a lot of insight in the band Hades.
All in all this isn`t a DVD that matches today`s standards but when you`re a fan of Hades this definitely is worth checking out.
